Doug, a native of West Texas, has over 40 years of experience in the oil and gas industry. His career began as a contract landman, evolving into running a landman brokerage before transitioning into oil and gas exploration and production. This exposure fueled his ambition to enter oil and gas operations, leading to the successful establishment of multiple businesses.

Doug is married to his high school sweetheart and fellow West Texas native, Charlsa A. Gregory Hillman. Charlsa’s father, R.E. (Dick) Gregory, Jr., a WWII veteran and sheriff of Mitchell County, played a pivotal role in introducing Doug and Charlsa to the oil and gas industry shortly after their marriage in the early 1970s.

Sam Hillman, a Midland, TX native, earned his business degree from Texas Tech University in 2012. After gaining industry knowledge through contract land work for various companies in West Texas, Sam joined the family businesses and has been with HEXP since its inception in 2017.

With 10 years of land work and family office experience, Sam has worked alongside various departments, gaining a comprehensive understanding of energy and oil and gas industries. He is a member of the American Association of Professional Landmen (AAPL) and the Permian Basin Landmen’s Association (PBLA).

Mr. Furlong joined HEXP in 2024 as the Chief Financial Officer. Prior to joining HEXP, Mr. Furlong was the Chief Financial Officer, Vice President of Finance, Treasurer, and Secretary, for Verado Energy, Inc. (Verado) representing holdings across North America. Prior to Verado, Mr. Furlong spent eight years in public accounting focusing primarily on the energy and oil and gas industries in various senior-level management positions, in addition to representing construction, manufacturing, distribution, and technology sectors.

He received a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting, as well as a Bachelor of Business Administration in Entrepreneurship and Strategic Management from the University of North Texas. He is a Certified Public Accountant and a Chartered Global Management Accountant.

Mr. Kellner joined HEXP in January 2023 as the Operations Manager/Engineer. Prior to joining HEXP, Mr. Kellner was the Director of Operations for Rosehill Resources managing daily operations in the Delaware Basin where Rosehill Resources exceeded 30,000 BOEPD prioritizing Bone Spring and Wolfcamp Laterals. Prior to Rosehill, Mr. Kellner spent four years with Sheridan Production Company (Sheridan) as a Production Engineer focusing on Oklahoma Assets. The assets varied from deep SCOOP, to waterflood, and panhandle gas producing 8,000 BOEPD.

He received a Bachelor of Science degree in Petroleum Engineering from UTPB, as well as a Bachelor of Business Administration from Wayland Baptist.

Mr. Knowles joined HEXP in 2024 as the Chief Accounting Officer. Prior to joining HEXP, Mr. Knowles served eleven years in the oil and gas industry; starting as a Controller in oilfield services and working his way up to Chief Financial Officer at a regional oil and gas operator. Prior to his tenure in the oil and gas industry, Mr. Knowles spent eight years in public accounting focusing on clients in oil and gas, real estate, construction, healthcare, and hospitality.

He received a Bachelor, as well as a Master of Science degree in Accounting and Information Management from the University of Texas at Dallas. He is a Certified Public Accountant and a Chartered Global Management Accountant.
